The Challenge

Our client, Repsol, one of the most important multi-energy companies in the world, is undergoing a transformation process of its IT and network services. This change involved an evolution of its network architecture to respond to new challenges related to connectivity, especially connectivity over the Internet, cost control, security, adoption of cloud technologies and application performance.

The Solution

Our Enhanced Internet solution represents a paradigm shift in enterprise networking, offering companies the cost efficiency of the Internet and the reliability of private networks.

With Enhanced Internet, we are able to strategically route Repsol’s data traffic through our high-performance network and connect it directly to key cloud services and other locations within the company.

Our solution provides the necessary guarantees for seamless, secure and high-performance connectivity. Enhanced Internet combines the best of both worlds: it combines the capillarity and cost of Internet access with the guarantees of a private data network. This is possible because it is supported by a combination of local Internet access, an IPSec tunnel to access our private network and a VPN to manage Repsol’s traffic.

In addition, we support Repsol in this transformation process not only with Enhanced Internet technology, but also with our service and customer care model, integrating all the necessary digital and connectivity services, as well as centralized global monitoring through the monitoring center for Repsol.

The Results

Our service has been specifically designed to guarantee a first class quality of experience (QoE), similar to the performance associated with private networks.

We are deploying Enhanced Internet in 8 countries on 4 continents: Mexico, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Brazil, Singapore, Indonesia, Portugal and Spain.

Initial results show an improvement in the quality of service. The connectivity of the company’s different sites was strengthened in terms of navigation, contingency and increased aggregate bandwidth.

With Enhanced Internet, we have managed to maintain a threshold of less than 90% packet loss, which allows us to optimize bandwidth, with a guaranteed jitter of less than 5 milliseconds. In terms of latency, for example, between our Singapore and Madrid sites, we are experiencing a latency of approximately 170 milliseconds, comparable to the previous service.
