This is how our Global Network played at Euro 2024

Madrid, 31 July 2024.- We are in the midst of a summer full of sporting events that generate a lot of excitement and attract a large number of fans: the Olympic Games in Paris, the America’s Cup and the Euro 2024. Our network and our international services are essential to fully enjoy these events.

According to the analysis carried out by Telefónica Global Solutions’ Network Architecture team, Roaming data traffic on the network, especially that delivered in Spain and received from the UK and Germany, doubled during the course of the competition and reached an all-time high in the final, with a growth of more than 100% during this period as can be seen in the graphs.

In order to ensure quality of service and meet the increased demand, work was completed during the previous weeks to extend routes and connections with the main providers, thus avoiding risky situations. Also, in the previous days, work was completed to migrate the DNS service provided by the GSMA, which is critical for these services, in a transparent manner for our customers and without impact.
