Madrid, 12 February 2024.- In the latest edition of Juniper Research´s Competitor Leaderboard report, the analysts state that operators need to prioritize innovation in their IoT roaming offerings. Specifically, Juniper Research anticipates that the total number of IoT roaming connections will rise from 145 million in 2023 to 600 million in 2028, making the implementation of new roaming standards necessary to detect and monetise IoT roaming. Global revenue from IoT roaming is expected to surge substantially, from $690 million in 2023 to $1.5 billion in 2028.
The report highlights Telefónica’s progress in Juniper’s ranking and in the IoT roaming market. In specific, Telefónica has risen six places in this classification. According to Juniper Research, “the progress of the company in the IoT roaming market over the past year has been driven by innovation with solutions that simplify the roaming monetisation process, BCE and services that help operators manage different roaming regulations”.
